The Multiparty national referendum committee (MNRC) launch for the YES side in Kabale district on Tuesday flopped following a poor turn up.

The function was organised by Joseph Nyanzi, the head of the cluster for Kabale, Rakai and Kamwenge districts, whom guests blamed for the poor turn up.

Kabale LC5 chairman Adison Kakuru presided over the function, at which journalists enjoyed the comfort of most of the main seats in the pavilion.

Kakuru represented Robert Kitariiko, the head of MNRC, who did not turn up due to a tight schedule in Kampala.

A handful of bicycle bodaboda riders were scattered in the stadium during the occasion, as Nyanzi laboured to explain the importance of the referendum set for July 28, on the change of political system.

Nyanzi asked the people to vote YES, which is supported by president Yoweri Museveni.

“I urge you to vote YES and our symbol of the tree, which is the only sure way of ensuring the return of Museveni to power,” he said.

Kakuru said the Movement opened up the political space to allow errant members to join other parties.
