Pader Woman MP Santa Okot has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of conducting the district’s civic education in Luganda

Pader Woman MP Santa Okot has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of conducting the district’s civic education in Luganda, writes Vision Reporter.

Okot (left) told the press at Parliament yesterday that EC hired a group of people, mainly youth, to distribute Luganda and Ateso leaflets to Pader residents.

“These boys (civic educators) move around playing music, attracting children instead of adults. It is not surprising that their rallies are made up of only children,” Okot said.

The EC public relations officer, Jabweli Okello, denied the allegations, saying the EC could never conduct civic education in the north in Luganda.

“Let her tell you the name of the firm then I can comment,” he said.
Okot urged displaced persons in camps to vote ‘yes’. She said they should ignore politicians who said, “We in the north have suffered enough and the referendum will not help us.”

She urged them to tick the tree symbol to allow political parties to participate in politics.
