MOVEMENT supporters must register ahead of the grassroots elections that kick off on Friday, the special presidential assistant on political affairs has said.

Moses Byaruhanga said non-registered members would not be allowed to participate in the elections for the village committees.

“Those who have not registered must do so and ensure that they are given their Movement cards before the commencement of the grassroots elections. Whoever fails to get registered will not be allowed to participate both as candidates and as voters,” Byaruhanga said.

He was on Sunday receiving more than 100 former forum for democratic change (FDC) mobilisers for Pallisa district, who crossed to the movement.

The FDC mobilisers, led by the district publicity secretary, George William Mukatabara, said they “returned” to the movement at a ceremony at Kadama primary school.

State minister for industry Jennifer Namuyangu, the LC5 chairman, Bob Wasugirya and RDC Grace Sendabaguzi attended the ceremony.

Byaruhanga said the grassroots elections would be conducted by secret ballot, adding that ballot boxes would be improvised for the exercise.

He commended the mobilisers for returning to the movement fold.
