MANAGERS, leaders and other professionals should balance working life with life outside work in order to manage their businesses effectively.

Mariam Luyombo, the director of Taibah Schools, said this at a management forum at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel over the weekend.

“Work-life balance is a new concept in the world of work. It is about how all of us manage our lives and allocate our time. This is what will enable you win at home and at work,” Luyombo said.
She appealed to the participants to be committed to their work because managers require 150% of their employees’ time.

“When I speak to business people, I can tell that they will or will not succeed from the levels of commitment they exhibit,” Luyombo said.

She said people who continually struggle with work-life balance are often uncommitted and incompetent and may lead to below average performance of the company.

“As a manager, this is the last person you want to have on your team,” Luyombo said.
