SACKED FUFA president Denis Obua has thrown his weight behind Lawrence Mulindwa as the best person to replace him.

FUFA elections will be held next month starting at grassroot level up to the executive.

In a telephone interview on Wednesday, Obua said that although he had reservations about Mulindwa, the St Mary’s Kitende director is the best (available) option.

“I don’t want to comment much on these things because it is riddled with a lot of hatred. But now that I don’t want anything to do with local football, I’m sure Mulindwa can be the best of those people but you have to remember that football administration is a talent,” Obua said.

Mulindwa was Obua’s closest rival in the election campaigns which aborted when government suspended FUFA last February.

Other candidates then included Badru Sebyala and Michael Okiror but it is not clear whether the duo is still interested in the FUFA top post.
