My Lord Bishop, thuggery is not Catholic at all!

Nov 11, 2005

SIR — On November 5, Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa of Masaka was quoted in the press as having said, “I admire Mutale because he is so zealous with the movement government to the extent that he established Kalangala Action Plan (KAP) to ensure that he fulfiled his plans to strengthen the movement.

SIR — On November 5, Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa of Masaka was quoted in the press as having said, “I admire Mutale because he is so zealous with the movement government to the extent that he established Kalangala Action Plan (KAP) to ensure that he fulfiled his plans to strengthen the movement.”

It was further reported that the bishop went on to ask the students of St. Henry’s College Kitovu to emulate Maj. Kakooza Mutale and be ready to die for their Catholic faith!

I disagree with my bishop because of the example he gave to the young boys. This is encouraging thuggery which is not catholic at all! I would have thought that everyone in our society would condemn the methods Mutale uses to advance his agenda. I have no problem with people liking their parties or religions but they should obey the laws of society. I hope the bishop was misquoted.

SIR — Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa of Masaka is reported to have admired Maj. Kakooza Mutale for his kalangala Action Plan!
I expected the bishop to condemn Mutale instead!
