A government official and his family were left speechless when charcoal dealers on Gulu-Kampala road rejected the sh50,000 note they paid, thinking it was fake.

Okello and his family were returning to Kampala after Christmas holiday in Gulu. When they reached a place where they sell charcoal, he decided to buy some.

He ordered the charcoal dealers to load six sackfuls of charcoal each at sh5,000 onto his pick up. He pulled a out a sh50,000 note and gave it to the dealers in payment.

One of the charcoal dealers thought Okello was mistaken. He informed him the money was not genuine Uganda currency. Okello informed them the Bank of uganda just released the money in December. But the dealers were not satisfied.

They consulted colleagues to establish whether they had seen or heard of such money. They were shocked to learn the currency exists.
