The road that has generated a lot of controversy between Nateete and Bakuli is almost complete and a number of users are starting to appreciate its features.

It is now only the section from Ssekabaka Kintu road just before the former dumping ground to the Caltex Petrol Station some 200metres from Nateete that is still closed to public transport.

“The lights at Bakuli will reduce the traffic confusion as they did in Wandegeya and Nateete, where they have the same type of lights.

With the dividing lines, the road is even wider than when it was still under construction.

The pavements, which are about two metres wide on each side of the road, provide safety from the drivers on the highway. This is the feature which was initially responsible for the controversy as to whether the road was wide enough.

“It’s the pavements which when demarcated makes the road seem narrower than it is” one supervisor told this reporter.

The pavement seems narrower in the Mengo shopping centre allowing some parking for customers’ vehicles. Shopkeepers had complained that their customers would have nowhere near their shops to park.

It is now the pavement on the right hand side of the road towards Nateete that still has to be completed.

There are also several spaces reserved for buses to park.
