SOCCER governing body, FUFA, is close to securing the services of an Egyptian coach ahead of the 2006 Africa/World Cup qualifying campaign that starts in June.

FUFA vice president (administration) Godfrey Kwizera yesterday disclosed that president Denis Obua has for the past couple of days been locked in negotiations with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) over a perfect replacement for the top-coaching job.

“Obua is in negotiations with the Egyptian soccer federation over the likely choice for the Cranes top seat. The negotiations are getting better and better and very soon we will have the person here,” said Kwizera.

If secured, the Egyptian would replace Argentine coach Pedro Pasculli, who deserted the team after Rwanda beat Uganda 1-0.
