KOBS will trounce Angola in today’s Athens Olympics qualifier and reinstate some pride only if they can exhibit character and determination

Angola v Uganda (Kobs)

KOBS will trounce Angola in today’s Athens Olympics qualifier and reinstate some pride only if they can exhibit character and determination that has not been characteristic of them before.

It is an amazing prediction given the fact that Kobs tactician Jackson Mayanja will have to gamble with only 13 players that made the trip to Luanda. If that is to crystallise — and one thing is for sure — then there wont be a fight for places.

But the key to that will be for Kobs’ to keep a clean sheet yet on the evidence of their first meeting that could prove a big task.
The bottom line is that Kobs will have to come up with their best performance in years to match the physically endowed Angolans.
Mayanja has the players that could hurt the Angolans, who looked ordinary defensively, but will have to solve the problems in defence that proved to be Kobs undoing in Kampala.

In fact, while Kobs’ players must perform at the very peak of their powers, Mayanja himself will have to be spot-on with major selection decisions.
The loss of four key players Hannington Kalyesubulwa, Godfrey Kateregga, Joseph Kabagambe and Andrew Mwesigwa will be a massive blow for Kobs to overcome and Mayanja will have to decide who should fit into the places while devising a system that will enable his team get to the Angolans.
