— RDC Mugisha Muhwezi said polygamy was responsible for the biting poverty in Busoga. “You wonder whether a man owns a kraal of exotic animals. How can a man of six wives satisfy them equally, while religions like Islam allow for only four wives?” He was speaking at Kakira sub-county headquarters on Tuesday.

Two remanded
KAMPALA
— High Court Judge Opio Aweri yesterday remanded in Luzira Prison Musa Mubiru and Stephen Wandera for allegedly kidnapping Summy Sai, nine, and Sirisha Mumangi, eight, at Kololo airstrip last year. They were arrested in Najanankumbi, demanding a sh150m ransom from the Asian parents.

— Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Deo Nizeyimana yesterday released a Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited assistant cashier, Christopher Kagimu, on a cash bail of sh1m over fraud allegations. Kagimu, who was arrested on March 5, denied ever forging a cheque to defraud the company of sh480m in Stanbic Bank.
