SIR — Your Education Vision article ‘Canon Apolo salvaged from ruins’ made me travel from Kyaka to visit the college recently.
I agree with the writer that local politicians should show more interest in Canon Apolo and promote it to a Grade 5 college particularly for the benefit of Kabarole, kasese,
Kyenjojo, kamwenge and Bundibugyo. It qualifies hands down. All we need is goodwill.
Our representatives should learn to appreciate the importance of such institutions in our society. Look at Mbarara University of Science and Technology! It will outlive the NRM and serve posterity.
We must learn to support our areas and remember the saying ‘akakira kembuzi’! I thank the Ministry of Education and Ireland Aid for the great work they have done.
