The Minister of Water, Lands and Environment, Col. Kahinda Otafire, has expressed fear at the rate MPs are joining the Parliamentary Advocacy Forum (PAFO), reports Wilber Muhwezi.
Otafire, who is also chairman of Ankole Parliamentary Group, said he was worried the trend could divide the Ankole MPs.
“I must be frank that the rate at which MPs from Ankole have joined PAFO is worrying” he said.
Otafire was addressing a meeting of local leaders at Katungu in Bushenyi district on Thursday.
He said he was yet to embark on a reconciliation drive such that the people of Ankole are not divided.
The meeting coincided with a PAFO workshop in Mbarara attended by over 400 people from Ankole.
Many MPs from Ankole region are professed members of PAFO, a grouping of MPs opposed to lifting of the President’s term limit.
