GULU based sprinter Lyna Otimgiu entered camp yesterday, after getting confirmation that one more country had confirmed participation in the East African Amateur Athletics Region championship due May 29-30 at Namboole stadium.

The entire Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAF) team had been left wondering what they will do to get more medals as most countries had shied away from entering athletes in the sprints.
Rules governing the region say that for an event to become competitive, it has to attract at least two countries.

“We were lucky that Sudan entered athletes in the sprints. We can now be assured of some medals from these events,” said UAAF secretary Beatrice Ayikoru. The sprints will be electronically timed.
