By Felix OsikeTHEY come from the same district, but are torn apart by the inter-tribal battles over the control of resources. In a district whose accounts are attached by the debtors and Uganda Revenue Authority, the potent issue of political control and supremacy by leading politicians is raging on among the three main tribes the Japadhola, the Iteso and the Banyole. The factional intrigue on the distribution and allocation of resources has led to the demise of the district as collective decisions cannot be reached. The newly elected Tororo Municipality mayor Jack Ogolla has called for unity among those warring tribes in order to enhance development. He has also promised to work closely with investors, his political opponents and the non-governmental organisations to improve the lives of his people.“The divisive politics in the district must end. Whoever decampaigned me in the elections... that matter is now put aside,” he told The New Vision. On the tribal issue he said, “I am going to handle everybody equally irrespective of tribe or political affiliation.”
