By Fred KaweesiSPORTS State minister Okello Oryem has praised FUFA over its remarkable transformation since the re-election of Denis Obua. It’s approximately five months since Obua was returned as FUFA president and the there is a noticeable change, according to Oryem. In an exclusive interview with The New Vision, Oryem said the levels of incompetence and fraudulence had dropped significantly.“The attitudes are apparently convincing and there is a remarkable difference compared to the time I came into office and that’s paramount. There is transparency, at least that will lure some of our corporate sponsors back.“I met Shell and Coca Cola and everything was positive. It was agreed that the Council of Sports would benefit first then FUFA later if their interests were vivid enough,” he said.Oryem attributed the changes in FUFA to his “scrutiny” into the federation’s accounts.“The ‘eating’ has reduced because I keep daily watch of their accountability files,” he said. The minister, however, pointed to the recent visa charges saga among FUFA officials as the only offensive act that will necessitate investigating.“I told the accounts and technical committees to come and explain whatever happened because I believe there is something vicious propping behind the scenes that I should know. We have to start getting things right and more so professionally,” he said.Meanwhile, the minister also commended the indirect donor support rendered to the sports ministry that has helped accelerate and upgrade sports activities in the country.“We have annually received indirect donor support for the ministry through UNESCO and other organisations that has helped in the physical study.” ends
