SIR— There was a time Uganda was in anarchy.During that time, I thought we would always enjoy all the opportunities that strike our way for that chance would not come again. For opportunity strikes once.Could this be the case during the present era that actually our leaders are taking no chances about opportunities? If this is true, who is to blame? Is it our culture or the officials?Enough is enough. It is high time we realised that our conduct does not only benefit or damage us as individuals but also the society we live in and the future generation we are projecting.Well, here we are today, with a crisis on our hands. We have watched and heard of the IGG in the fight against corruption. Let us learn from the stories of great men and women who have risked their lives to rid us of danger. For now, let’s all join the war. It is not a strange kind of war. The news from the Electoral Commission (EC) scandals and all other battle-grounds that the IGG has been to, leading to the recovery of millions of funds and the dismissal of officials assures me of victory. However, the Government must act quickly given the evidence and take action on these leaders or else it will be too late. The enemy is within; but first, let us arm ourselves with ethics, morals and integrity, the leadership code that will be our artillery against the enemy. As charity begins at home, so should our war. Let us not be like the politicians who insist on removing specks in other people’s eyes yet they have logs in theirs.Paul OnapaKampala
