It’s cry the beloved country for us, wouldn’t you say?

SIR— It is a great shame that despite the fact that the majority of Ugandans still live in abject poverty, our government and its officials still continue to waste money on grandiose exercises.

SIR— It is a great shame that despite the fact that the majority of Ugandans still live in abject poverty, our government and its officials still continue to waste money on grandiose exercises.
In the past week, we have learnt that Lady Justice Julia Ssebutinde, a lady in whom we had placed our trust to fight corruption, is pocketing a cool sh9,000,000/= per month on top of her regular salary of sh4,800,000/= for doing her job as a judge. To me, that fact alone places her in a moral position not far off from that of the URA officials she is investigating!
Again, still reeling from that blow, we are hit by another in the form of Justice Porter’s pay for chairing the Commission of Inquiry into plundering Congo. He rides home with a super cool $10,000 per month, although unlike Justice Ssebutinde. Now today we read in The East African that the cost of repairing State House, Entebbe, is set at US$43m! That is after $32m on the new presidential jet!
Uganda will never develop if the powers that be continue
to misuse its meager resources, which we are begging from
for most of the money that
we waste!
