False Luweero Claimants To Be Tried

By Frederick KiwanukaFALSE Luweero war debt claimants are to be prosecuted in court, members of the verification team said yesterday at Kapeeka sub-county headquarters.The team which met the claimants said the Government will pay all genuine war debts and reward former NRM militia for their contribution towards the war.The team, now on a verification tour of all sub-counties in Luweero triangle, comprises Major Jacob Asiimwe, Major Kyamufumba, Lt. Col. Nalweyiso, Col. Wasswa and Capt. Kaye. Others are Capt. Jjuuko, Capt. Nadduli and Haji Edrisa Seddunga.A total of 30 claimants’ applications were nullified after it was discovered that they were non-existent, unrealistic or exaggerated.Col. Nalweyiso said the claimants whose applications were proved to be fraudulent were to be arrested and face the law. She said some false claimants had already been arrested.The committee, constituted last year, has received over 6,000 applications of which many have been proved fake.Ends
