KAPCHORWA district hospital is facing an acute shortage of drugs, the acting medical superintendent, Dr. Rogers Masaba, has said, reports Rashid Muzungyo. Masaba said the shortage follows the failure by LC5 executive to allow the chief administrative officer, John Kashaka, to be signatory to the district accounts.“It is not because there are no funds but the problem is with the leadership at the district level. The last release was in November,” Masaba said.“We have alerted relevant authorities about the problem. Patients have to buy all drugs required for treatment,” he added. He said the shortage has mostly affected the theatre and laboratory departments. The RDC, Mrs. Tezira Jamwa, has directed the LC5 chairman, Christopher Chepkuruti, to call an executive committee meeting to allow the CAO serve the district.
