By Samson OpusHUNGER has struck the Bombers camp as the pugilists prepare for Commonwealth Games. The national boxers have to tussle it out on empty stomachs in the non-residential camp that opened last week.“It is really terrible, there is nothing even for refreshment,” said one miserable pugilist who requested anonymity.National coach Dick Katende earlier called for sacrifice at the opening of the camp last week.“Things are not easy. You must be prepared for sacrifice,” the coach advised.Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) secretary Mohamed Sebuguzi said the cash strapped federation is not in position to feed the team.“We wrote to National Council (of Sports) and we are still awaiting for a response,” he said.UABF summoned 18 boxers for training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Lugogo gymn. After losing key figures in the national squad, Katende faced a huge task rebuilding a team for the Commonwealth Games in the English city of Manchester.Ends
