Makerere Releases Admission List

The long-awaited admission list of new entrants to Makerere University was yesterday displayed on faculty notice boards, reports Fortunate Ahimbisibwe.Hundreds of eager students flocked the university to find out if their names appeared on the list of government-sponsored students.About 2,795 students have been admitted this year on government sponsorship for the 59 undergraduate programmes.About 1,000 students will be admitted to Kyambogo University and the rest to Mbarara and Gulu universities.The Deputy Academic Registrar in-charge of admissions, Elisha Obela, said the list was complete.“We have released the list of the students who have been admitted on government sponsorship. Students will be able to access it in all faculties,” Obela said. But Obela said, “We were not able to compile the statistics of the admissions. We hope to do it soon.” Sources in the Academic Registrar’s office said schools in Kampala, Mpigi and Wakiso districts dominated the competitive Arts and Science courses.Ends
