MPS have drafted a motion for a resolution of Parliament calling for peaceful settlement of the war between the Government and rebel leader Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).

By Joyce NamutebiMPS have drafted a motion for a resolution of Parliament calling for peaceful settlement of the war between the Government and rebel leader Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).“We, the people’s representatives note with concern the recent upsurge of rebel activity as reported in the electronic and print media, to wit abductions, ambushes and brutal killing of innocent Ugandans living in communities in and around the northern region of Uganda,” the motion says.The motion is to be moved by Ken Lukyamuzi (Rubaga south) and seconded by eight MPs.They are Nandala Mafabi (Budadiri West), John Odit (Erute South) Betty Amongi (Apac), Ssebuliba Mutumba (Kawempe South) and Latif Sebaggala (Kawempe North) are the seconders. Others are Michael Mabikke (Makindye East), Nsubuga Nsambu (Makindye West) and Frank Nabwiso (Kagoma).They said the pain, loss and suffering inflicted upon the people living in the north due to war for the last 17 years “disheartens us.” They urged the Government to talk peace with the LRA and “urgently provide relief and humanitarian assistance to the suffering population.”Ends
