MAKERERE University has raised about sh560m for the renovation of Lumumba Hall.
The renovation of Block B on the eastern wing which is the most dilapidated part of the hall, starts next week. The block accommodates about 200 students.
The Dean of students, John Ekudu, recently said the university had internally generated funds for the renovation.
“The first phase of the exercise will take about sh560m. Only the most dilapidated block will be renovated,” Ekudu said.
He said the students who stayed in the block would go to the affiliated hostels. No first year students were allocated to the hall.
He, however, said, “Only about 60 students will have to go to the hostels. We shall give them their accommodation allowances.”
