YOU see them smartly dressed in their uniforms, and wish you were among them. However, what they go through is terrible and at times they have no one to report to because no one seems to understand.

At Kawempe Police station there have been many complaints from parents and teachers having sexual relations with their pupils and students.

The Community Liaisons Officer, Abby Ngako said that he has been receiving reports of sexual harassment although students fear to come out openly.

“We have on several occasions received reports of teachers who have relationships with their students, but have not yet got clear evidence to pin the culprits because students fear to come out openly,” Ngako said flatly.

“Some teachers lure students into sex promising to award them good marks and others threaten them,” he added. Ngako plans to work with the division’s education team to crack down on offenders.

“Teachers should know it is a criminal offence to engage in sexual relationships with their students,” Ngako said.
