A BITTER row in the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) over a review of its constitution to give the Iteso paramount chief, the Emorimor, more powers is casting a shadow over the efforts of the institution to be accepted among the Iteso.
Members of the Kenyan ICU delegation who attended a cabinet meeting of the institution pleaded with their Ugandan counterparts to do away with the petty differences for stronger unity of the Iteso.
The ICU prime minister, Prof. Jethro Opolot, said the union had recently degenerated into factions, a danger he said could tear the institution apart.
“My ministers are against me. They bypass me and come to you (ICU chairman) because they know you are weak but this is wrong,” Opolot said. Ends
