THE UPDF is to deploy a battalion at Chapsikunya on the northern border of Kapchorwa district to curb cattle rustling, reports Rashid Muzungyo.
The Resident District Commissioner, Tezira Jamwa, said the army would set up multiple detachments to restrain the Pokot and the Karimojong rustlers from crossing from Nakapiripirit into the district.
Jamwa, who said some soldiers had already arrived, said the deployment aimed at restoring peace and security after decades of violence caused by the rustlers in the district.
She was briefing LCs, elders, women, youth and religious leaders on steps being taken by the Government to curb cattle raids at Chesower recently.
