The Kasese District Police Commander, Pius Mutabazi, has warned against the destruction of posters of any presidential candidate in the district.
"Whoever removes or destroys any presidential candidate's portrait will be punished," Mutabazi said yesterday.
He was reacting to reports that hundreds of portraits of presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye had been ripped off walls and poles in Kasese town.
Some of Besigye's posters, which reached the town on Thursday evening, had by yesterday morning disappeared while others were seen half torn on buildings.
Mutabazi appealed to residents to report people who tear down posters.
Ends.
