By Grace Matsiko MAJOR Okwir Rabwoni, released from military detention on Wednesday, spent yesterday indoors. Rabwoni is the former head of presidential candidate Col. Kizza Besigye's youth desk. About five security personnel in plain clothes yesterday guarded his residence on Kitamirike Road in Bunga, a Kampala suburb. They barred The New Vision journalists from entering the residence, saying visitors were not allowed. They said Rabwoni was resting. Rabwoni, also the western youth MP, was on Tuesday arrested by the military at Entebbe Airport. He was held at the headquarters of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence on Kitante Road. No charges were brought against him. Army spokesman Maj. Phinehas Katirima yesterday said the military would continue guarding Rabwoni as long as "there are security threats" against him. Katirima, however, would not say what the military would do about suspects implicated by intelligence reports as having plotted to kill Rabwoni. A family source said Rabwoni and his wife Shalonge may seek asylum in Britain or South Africa. Shalonge, a Rwandese, is reported to have acquired a Ugandan passport. However, Shalonge said, "If I got a Ugandan passport is that bad? I think under the Constitution, if you are married to a Ugandan for three years, you automatically qualify to acquire a Ugandan passport." On whether it was possible to talk to her husband, Shalonge said, "He was stopped from talking to journalists." Ends
