Aggrey Awori was born in 1939 in Busia district. l He attended primary school in Busia; Nabumali High School for 'O' level and King's College Budo for his high school certificate.

Aggrey Awori was born in 1939 in Busia district.
l He attended primary school in Busia; Nabumali High School for 'O' level and King's College Budo for his high school certificate.
l While at Budo, became a leading national athlete and was part of the Ugandan team that participated in the 1960 Olympics.
l Proceeded to the prestigious Harvard University in America.
l In 1963, excelled in the Heptagonal University Outdoor championship. He is 1963 Harvard champion in 100-yard dash in 10.2 sec. and the 220-yard dash in 21.9 sec.
l In the late 1960's was a director with the Ministry of Information. His pet topic then as today was international relations.
l In 1980, contested for the Nakawa parliamentary seat in 1980 on a UPC ticket and lost to Ojok Mulozi of the Democratic Party.
l In 1981-85 he was minister Plenipotentiary and Extra ordinary in the UPC government.
l From 1985-87, was permanent representative to the European Union.
l Was one of the leaders who led a rebel movement, Force Obote Back Again, operating in eastern Uganda in the late 1980s
l In 1992, renounced rebellion and returned from exile.
l Was elected as a delegate to the Constituent Assembly in 1994.
l Became a member of Parliament for Samia Bugwe in 1996.
l He has been a persistent critic of the incumbent and his government. He promises to sweep the presidential race like the mighty Nile. His slogan: "There will be no retreat, no surrender to make Awori Number One."
l He has been vocal in public against corruption and mismanagement of national resources.
l His crusade is hinged on junk helicopters and defective military tanks bought for the Uganda People's Defence Forces(UPDF).
l He is a multipartyist and a member of the UPC, but is running on individual merit.
l His brother, Moody Awori, is a Member of Parliament in Kenya, representing Funyula constituency in western Kenya.
Aggrey Awori wants:
w To wipe out poverty
w Conduct peace talks with Allied Democratic Forces and Lords Resistance Army rebels to cease armed conflict and usher in peace
w Introduce a culture of tolerance and non violence
w Find additional sources for free education for all primary and secondary pupils
w Enable people to decide their destiny
w Make leaders listen to the people and be accountable to them
w Enable people to decide the quality of life in governance, democracy and the law
w Involve ordinary people in conflict resolution and peace building
w Make the people participate in the development of the private sector
w Encourage public contribution to economic growth and consequently economic empowerment.
w Have a comprehensive tree planting programme at village level to encourage agro-forestry and the sustainable use of trees for fuel
w To emphasise good governance for a long term solution to environmental degradation
w Negotiate with solar panel and cooker manufacturing companies to reduce the cost of the technology
w Develop a viable and vibrant marketing system for agricultural produce and an input distribution network
w To ensure reliable and adequate supply of water for agricultural production and to develop an agricultural market information system.
