FOURTY people in Iganga district are admitted in various hospitals after drinking large quantities of beer and local brew at the weekend. The victims reportedly consumed 40 crates of beer, 500 litres of local brew and four jerricans of waragi. They drank the alcohol at a party on Saturday. The party was organised by Fred Kasiisa, the headmaster of Iganga Boys' School to celebrate his graduation and that of his wife as well as the completion of their house in Namutumba sub -county. The victims, mostly residents of neighbouring villages, reportedly refused to eat first, saying by the time they ate, the drinks would be finished. Doctors at the hospitals where the 40 are admitted told The New Vision that the victims were still weak. Many of them were on drip and others were being fed rehydration salts and glucose. Ends
