By Hamis Kaheru PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni yesterday said he wants doctors in Mubende Hospital investigated to establish how the former managing director of the Swiss Procurement Company, Agnes Komukyeya Katama, died. "This story of how Agnes died will come out like the Ssebutinde report," Museveni said while launching the Agnes Katama Integrity Award (AKIA) at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. Katama was involved in a motor accident on Mubende-Fort Portal Road on December 23, last year and died in Mubende Hospital together with two children, her relatives. Museveni said timely intervention could have saved her life. "Agnes did not die immediately. She was taken to hospital when she was conversing. She died many hours later...five hours. I also lost a relative like that. Why don't we have a doctor on duty all the time?" he asked. "You are a traitor if you are a doctor and don't work like a doctor. This litany about poor pay should stop. We liberated this country by fighting and we were not paid," Museveni said. Museveni said AKIA would immortalise Katama. The award, to be managed by the new Komukyeya Foundation, will be given out annually and winners will receive sh20m and an Agnes Katama Integrity trophy. Beneficiaries of the award will be Ugandan nationals who excel in good governance in general and procurement reform in government institutions in particular. Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala was yesterday inaugurated as patron of the foundation. Ends
