NAIROBI - A Ugandan was among nine convicts released by the Kenyan prison authorities on Wednesday after serving a 24-year jail term at Naivasha Maximum Prison.

NAIROBI - A Ugandan was among nine convicts released by the Kenyan prison authorities on Wednesday after serving a 24-year jail term at Naivasha Maximum Prison. President Daniel arap Moi ordered their release. Charles Wasswa, 60, from Iganga, was convicted of robbery with violence in July 1975 and was jailed to serve a life sentence. Upon his release at 6:30pm, Wasswa was taken to Naivasha bus park and booked on a Kenyan bus destined for Busia where he was to be handed over to the Ugandan authorities. Ends
