JULIUS Acon will miss the Edmonton World Athletics Championship unless he recovers fast from a bout of Malaria.
Acon, who returned from Europe on Thursday, said he has been ill for a fortnight. "I have lost about four kilograms, and get dizzy whenever I run."
Grace Birungi will be Uganda's only competitor in the August 3-12 championship if Acon fails to recover. Davis Kamoga (400m) opted out because of poor form on Tuesday.
Acon's Canadian coach Mansoor Esmail said a decision on the athlete's participation would be made today.
"The illness is so close to the competition, but I still want to see how he responds to treatment and training," he said.
