EDITOR: HEADTEACHERS should be held accountable for the strikes in schools . Most of them run these institutions as if they were bedroom matters. Some headteachers are too harsh and brutal. They cane children even for smallest mistakes in the name of good results. Then there are those who are “untouchable” because they have godfathers in the Ministry of Education and Sports. Sometime back the Ministry officials proposed a rotation system for headteachers but I don’t know what happened to this proposal. Otherwise, headteachers who mismanage schools to such an extent that students go on strike should be charged in court for failing to do their duty. Nick Ogole, Lira.
