URA Nakawa system irritating!

SIR—Taxpayers are sick and tired of the URA system at Nakawa.

SIR—Taxpayers are sick and tired of the URA system at Nakawa. The need to streamline the process of paying taxes and processing documents, like car logbooks is long overdue. On August 24, I went to Nakawa. The officers were absent because they had gone to pick their children from school, it was explained. The mess that resulted was visual on Friday and Saturday. When an officer has a genuine case, a standby should be in place or URA should consider making the senior officers help them to pick the children while we collect tax. Simple cost-benefit analysis. When you go to Nakawa, you find people moving up and down shouting, making calls on their mobile phones, an indication that something wrong is wrong. Let the system the re-organised, employ more people if the work-load is too much. David Bizimana, Kampala
