Freezing guest enters mattress

A man in Aduku surprised his in-laws whom he had gone to visit when in the morning he emerged from the hut, with white cotton stuffing stuck in his hair. Olara had gone to visit his wife’s people alone and after all the chit-chat, he was offered one of the huts to spend the night. The in-laws thought Olara had come with bedsheets in the bag he came with, so they did not provide him with the same. Olara on his part was too embarrassed to ask and so retired for the night without a word. During the night it became so cold that Olara had no alternative but to enter the mattress which was stuffed with cotton and was conveniently warm. In the morning Olara, having slept soundly, forgot to check his hair and emerged from the hut and stretching luxuriously. The can of worms was opened when Olara’s brother-in-law came to greet him and soon noticed the cotton in his muko’s hair. The lad began laughing uncontrollably, and soon every one in the compound came to investigate the cause of the amusement. When Olara explained what had happened, he drew more laughter which only subsided when his father-inlaw intervened and told Olara never to be afraid to be frank with his laws because they were also ordinary people. ends
