The President, who is also the chairman of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Movement, appointed ex-Mpigi RDC Serapio Karashani as a deputy director of mass mobilisation in charge of urban centres and organised groups such as trade unions. State House sources said Zedekia Karokora, who was the Kasese RDC was appointed deputy director for economic affairs in charge of economic monitoring. The Deputy Director of Information at the Movement Secretariat, Ofwono Opondo, said the appointments were made in Kyankwanzi on Wednesday. Kalinda, Karokora and Karashani were recently dropped in the last RDCs reshuffle and posted to the Movement Secretariat. Apart from Kalinda, the rest had served as RDCs for close to 10 years. The appointments of the deputy directors was made and approved by NEC, a source told The New Vision. “These appointments are part of the restructuring of the Secretariat. We need specific offices to attend to specific problems,” a source said. Ends
