By B. Kanyambu A recent wedding party at Kalungu Mother's Union Hall in Bushenyi ended prematurely when people started leaving, blaming the groom for a poor speech. The groom, a district official, in his speech alleged some officers had been talking loosely that ahangeire, meaning he had taken long to marry. Among the Banyankore, many people perceive the word okuhangara as derogatory. The officer, in his 30s, said that now that he is married let those officers go and write again. The angry bridegroom said that even his father did not deserve any thanks for educating him since it was his responsibility as a parent. People started murmuring and began going out, cursing. Efforts to woo them back were in vain. Some people said that instead of appreciating peoples contribution to the successful day for him was abusing people. Ends.
