Man remanded over tree theft

RICHARD Magumba alias Nseete, a resident of Kaitabawala village in Mafubira sub-county, Jinja district, has been remanded to Kirinya Prison over theft and malicious damage to property.
RICHARD Magumba alias Nseete, a resident of Kaitabawala village in Mafubira sub-county, Jinja district, has been remanded to Kirinya Prison over theft and malicious damage to property.
Court presided over by the Chief Magistrate, Amos Kwizera, on Tuesday heard that Magumba, 28, on August 16, 2010, entered into Kimaka central forest reserve in Kimaka division where he destroyed pine trees.
Court also heard that Magumba stole 35 pine trees valued at about sh35m. Magumba denied the charges and was remanded to Kirinya until April 28.
