A total of 20 people have received water tanks to help them harvest rain water. The tanks were donated by Kolping Society, a Christian non-governmental organisation, through its women’s project in Kiyinda Mityana Diocese.

The beneficiaries were women, especially widows and those looking after orphans. Handing over the tanks, Margaret Kawooya, the project coordinator, said over 300 people had received tanks over 10 years.

“We are so grateful to our friends in Germany and the members of the Kolping society, who support us to have these tanks. Many of the beneficiaries can access clean and safe water,” Kawooya said.

She said although Kolping was a Christian organisation, it catered for people of all denominations.

“This time, we have only four Catholics. The rest are Muslims and Protestants.
