Mrs. Museveni mourns Mrs. Rwabwogo

THE First Lady and minister for Karamoja affairs, Janet Museveni, has paid tribute to the late Erina Kebihembe Rwabwogo. She is the mother of Odrek Rwabwogo, who is the proprietor of TERP Consultants and the First Lady’s son in law.

THE First Lady and minister for Karamoja affairs, Janet Museveni, has paid tribute to the late Erina Kebihembe Rwabwogo. She is the mother of Odrek Rwabwogo, who is the proprietor of TERP Consultants and the First Lady’s son in law.

Mrs. Museveni described Mrs. Rwabwogo as a truthful and successful mother who had seen her children grow into parents.

Mrs. Rwabwogo, 74, succumbed to cancer on Friday at Nairobi Hospital.

Speaking at the memorial service in celebration of Rwabwogo’s life at All Saints Cathedral Church in Nakasero, Kampala yesterday, Mrs. Museveni said Mrs. Rwabwogo had provided a living example to her family.

“She was true to her word. She was a living example for her children who all have families. I am happy she has not died a needy woman,” Mrs. Museveni said.

She also described Mrs. Rwabwogo as a strict disciplinarian.

Mrs. Museveni and her children, who included Lt. Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba also laid wreaths on Rwabwogo’s casket .

President Museveni’s daughter, Patience Rwabwogo, who is a wife to Odrek Rwabwogo, occasionally broke down as she narrated the memorable times she shared with her mother in law. She described her as a God loving mother who had a good sense of humour.

Minister for the Presidency Kabakumba Masiko, information minister Karooro Okurut and other government officials also laid wreaths. Several government officials and MPs sent condolence messages to the family.

The Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kingdom, Eng Yabezi Kiiza, and former Hoima mayor Francis Atugonza and the district’s FDC leadership sent condolence messages to the Rwabwogo family.

Mrs. Rwabwogo, who was one of the converts of the great East African Christian revival that swept through the region in 1930s, will be laid to rest at Naama village in Nyabushozi in Kiruhura district today.
