TOM Idere led Uganda’s medal haul at the Special Olympics that ended in Athens, Greece over the weekend.

The games are organised by Special Olympics International for athletes with mental disabilities.

Idere won a silver in the M31 division final after clocking 13 minutes 43 seconds.

His colleague Timothy Kiwanuka also won a silver in the 100m M04 with a time of 14.81 seconds.

Uganda’s other medal came from the aquatics event.

Allan Kalyowa beat her rivals in the 25m breaststroke division M3 with a time of 24.90 seconds to win a bronze medal. Six athletes represented the country.
