Kolin Insaat Turim Sayani Ve Tecaret, a Turkish firm, has won a sh320b contract to upgrade the 92km Hoima-Kaiso Tonya road in the Albertine region.

The project involves upgrading the existing gravel road to tarmac and build bridges and drainages, according to the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).

Naci Kologlu, the Kolin Insaat Turim Sayani Ve Tecaret chairman and Turkish ambassador to Uganda Melih Ulueren, witnessed the signing of the contract at UNRA headquarters in Kampala recently.

“Turkey has a global reputation in all sectors. Awarding this contract to a Turkish company is a win-win approach as it is expected to yield a productive relationship between Turkey and Uganda,” said Ulueren.

The works will start in October and take three years to complete. The road connects Hoima town to the Albertine region where there is oil drilling and exploration.
