Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has said that he is not a poor man to take bribes.

Mbabazi made the remarks on Wednesday while presiding over the opening of the International Community of the Banyakigezi (ICOB) conference at white Horse Inn-Kabale Municipality.

Mbabazi said he was not moved by the recent bribery accusations against him.

Mbabazi, Foreign affairs minister Sam Kutesa and internal affairs minister Hillary Onek are accused of soliciting for bribes from oil companies. A select committee of Parliament is investigating that matter and will present its findings to the House.

The Premier accused legislators who include Western Uganda Youth Member of Parliament Gerald Karuhanga and Ndorwa East Member of Parliament Wilfred Niwagaba and their allies of using forged documents to bring him down as well as blackmailing him.

However, Niwagaba said Mbabazi should stop blaming legislators for exposing his deeds but instead come clean.
