Masaka farmers sell donated coffee
Rather than plant coffee seedlings they received as a donation, residents of Masaka sold them off. Masaka Woman MP Freda Kase Mubanda said she was shocked to learn that most of the coffee and other seedlings that she had given to the people of Masaka when she was campaigning to become the district Woman MP were sold. “Those seedlings were meant to help you boost your gardens and fight poverty,” Mubanda said. She was on Friday handing over more coffee seedlings to farmers from the six sub-counties in Masaka district. She said as a result, she had changed the procedure of selecting the beneficiaries.

A total of 30 elderly people and a number of orphanages in Mityana district have received food items from the Kolping Society of Kiyinda-Mityana diocese. The items included 10 tonnes of maize flour and one tonne of beans.
Handing over the donation on Friday, the coordinator of the Kolping Society, Margaret Kawooya, said the donation had been made possible with funds extended to the Kolping Society from their friends in Dortmund, Germany.
