Prof. Elijah Mushemeza has defended small foreign investors, saying the country needs all foreign businesses big or small because they make a positive contribution to the economy through paying taxes.
He said he had no problem with small-and-medium foreign investments as long as the investors go through the right channels to enter the country.
He urged the Government to establish a mechanism to prevent these business entrepreneurs from repatriating all the profits without making a positive contribution to the economy.
“We want more business people to bring money here. We need more people to pay taxes and spend money here. They make a positive contribution,†he said.
