EDITOR: Not all is doom and gloom for Africa after all! When I had almost lost hope for the continent, I was pleasantly surprised by outgoing Zambian president Rupiah Banda's speech.
EDITOR: Not all is doom and gloom for Africa after all! When I had almost lost hope for the continent, I was pleasantly surprised by outgoing Zambian president Rupiah Banda's speech.
Instead of breathing fire and brimstone that he had been cheated, he graciously acknowledged defeat in the election and urged the victors to "celebrate with a magnanimous heart".
That is a far cry from the attitude of most African sitting presidents—if they cannot win, nobody else should. That mindset has caused social, political and economic strife but nobody seems to care as long as they stay in State House!
