REPATRIATION

As many as 382 Ugandans were safely flown back home Tuesday from Saudi Arabia, where they had been stranded for months due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

The repatriated group comprised mostly migrant workers and students, according to the foreign affairs ministry.

They arrived at Entebbe aboard a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight, which had departed from King Khalid International Airport Tuesday afternoon.

"Uganda and Saudi Arabia enjoy excellent bilateral relations. This repatriation was initiated by the Saudi government and facilitated by Uganda's Embassy in Riyadh and other authorities in Uganda, specifically the ministries of foreign affairs, health, and works an transport," said the foreign affairs ministry.

All the travellers who arrived underwent disinfection on the Entebbe airport tarmac.
