THE public service minister, Henry Kajura, has warned that more civil servants will continue to leave the service because of the unattractive salaries.

Kajura was appearing before the parliamentary committee of local Government and public service during consideration of his ministry’s indicative budget for 2003/04 to 2005/06.

He told the committee, chaired by Kalungu West MP Anthony Iga, that at the macro level, his ministry’s plan for a pay reform would not be realised due to under-funding.

He said the sh15b provision in the March 2003 indicative figures against a requirement of sh45.08b would be used only to harmonise and operationalise a uniform structure.

“This means that the limited provision for increasing pay in the next financial year 2003/04 will not be possible. It will be a major constraint in implementing pay reform,” he said.
